Driven by high-stakes postseason baseball, a thrilling early NFL and college football season, and the imminent tip-off of basketball and hockey, the sports world is currently packed with autumn action.
MLB Postseason
In the National League Championship Series, the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in four games. The Brewers won decisively in four games, taking the series lead early. This set the tone for the NLCS and signaled Brewers momentum.
The Dodgers had won back-to-back World Series titles in 2024 and 2025. Their game four loss against the Brewers destroyed any remaining hope for a three-peat. If they had won a third World Series, they would have stood alone. That scenario would have marked a unique achievement for a National League club.
Two American League teams, the New York Yankees and the Oakland Athletics, have been able to win three consecutive titles. This comparison underscores how rare such sustained success is across leagues. The Brewers’ NLCS victory adds to the narrative of durable excellence in baseball history.
In the American League Championship Series (ALCS), the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Guardians are tied 2-2. The Guardians won the first and third games, and the Rays won the second and fourth games. Many fans are mad due to the weather-related scheduling changes, as there will now be consecutive days of play. Game 4, which was played on October 17th, will be immediately followed by Game 5 on October 18th. Games 6 & 7 (if necessary) will be played at Tropicana Field.
WNBA Finals
The first game of the WNBA Finals concluded yesterday, with the Golden States Valkyries beating the Atlanta Dream by four points. The Valkyries went into the half leading by three points, and while the game was competitive for all 40 minutes, they were able to outscore the Dream 68-64.
Angel Reese recorded a double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds), and Gabby Williams led all scorers in Game 1, scoring 26 points.
The next game will be played in California on Monday, October 19th.
Highly-Anticipated Week 6 Games
One of the most anticipated games this week is a Sunday night showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. The Packers are just coming off of a 31-7 win over the Chicago Bears, and the Cowboys are looking to establish themselves on the road.
The Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars are competing in London this Sunday. At 8:30 AM CST, the AFC South rivals will face off in Wembley Stadium. Jacksonville has been in England since week 5, beating the Philadelphia Eagles in a last minute shoot out.
