Being the first major of the year, the Masters brings immense excitement to the golf community. While the golfers are striving for a green jackets performance, fans engross themselves in every which way.

Unlike the other 3 tournaments, Augusta National is the single home of the Masters. Located in Augusta, Georgia, the golf course is known for its pristine conditions and challenging greens; however, golfers do have a sense of a familiarity with the layout to a certain extent.

Betting Odds

Scottie Scheffler is the +550 favorite to win the tournament, which has been characterized by his recent win at the American Express tournament, as well as his former success at Augusta. The University of Texas alumni won the Masters in 2022 and 2024, and placed fourth in last year’s tournament. In his professional career, he has never finished outside of the top 20 when playing at Augusta.

Additionally, John Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau (+1000) are expected to be competitive throughout the tournament. Rahm took home a $4 million prize from his win at the 2026 LIV Golf Hong Kong tournament. On the dawn of his tenth Masters start, DeChambeau will tee off with recent wins at LIV Golf events in Singapore and South Africa.

Rory McIlroy (+1300) and Xander Schauffele (+1500) are also anticipated to have elite performances.

Local Revenue

The Masters have brought in about $140-$150 million in revenue in recent years, and it brings a lot of attention to the local economy.

Greenwood, South Carolina, hosts a lot of fans that are in town to watch the infamous tournament. With more traffic in the town, restaurants, hotels, and local golf courses will see a greater financial turnout.

Beth Powell, a bartender in Greenwood, speaks in an interview with WYFF 4 Greenville, “Business is good, and they stay pretty busy through the Masters week. All hotels in Greenwood are pretty booked, so that’s good for us, our pocket, and stuff. So, we love it.”

The border town is expected to make $1 million more than average due to their proximity to Augusta.
