According to ESPN, Stan Kroenke has agreed to buy the Los Angeles Angels for $4 billion. This deal includes the MLB team, as well as Angels Broadcast Television.
Stan Kroenke has become a billionaire through his real estate empire, as well as his various stakes within sports teams. He is currently the full owner of the Los Angeles Rams, where he originally held a 30% stake until 2010. He has a partial stake in the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche franchises, where he transferred ownership to his family through his firm. Within the soccer world, he is complete owner of both the men and women’s Arsenal F.C., and he is the complete owner of the Colorado Rapids (MLS).
With this recent transaction expected to be completed by 2027, Kroenke will purchase the team from Arte Moreno. Moreno originally bought the Angels from the Walt Disney Company in 2003, becoming the first Mexican-American owner of a major league sports team.
Angels fans had been arguing for Moreno to sell the team, with the failure to develop teams around generational talents such as Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout as a glaring reason.
